OUR OLIVE OIL TASTING EXPERIENCE

Welcome into the extraordinary world of extra virgin olive oil which the visitors has the opportunity to experience a guided olive oil tasting session from certified olive oil sommelier.
During the session, you are going to taste many different extra virgin olive oils, learn how to recognize a real extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) from adulterated or rancid oils. Experience the different tastes of EVOO based on different olive varieties, production and storage conditions. Learn about olive oil and food pairing activity and how to correctly combine specific olive oils with different foods (in order to transform a simple dish into something extraordinary simply by using the right olive oil).

The experience we offer includes:

  1. Guidance from a certified olive oil sommelier

  2. Water (mineral or sparkling)

  3. Extra virgin olive oil from 4 selected brands from different region of Crete

  4. Special olive oil tasting glasses

  5. Apple

  6. Bread

  7. Food pairing (+25€ per person, includes: 1 salad, 1 starter and 3 options to choose 1 dish from the main course.)

OUR OLIVE OIL SELECTION

  • RETHYMNO - CRETE

    A multi awarded organic olive oil, with unique cultivation and oiling methods. One of the oldest varieties from the island of Crete that takes you back in time. Efkrato olive fields are located in south of Rethymno area at high from 300 to 400m with a unique microclimate.

    MONOVARIETAL - VARIETY: TSOUNATI

    Complex and elegant in the nose, rich and fresh in the mouth with long and persistent aftertaste. Aromas of red apple, peppers, flowers and fresh almond.

    IDEAL PAIRING:

    Legumes, grilled vegetables, grilled meat, fish, sorbet ice cream.

  • MESSARA - CRETE

    A unique and extraordinary extra virgin olive oil that hides some of the generosity and history of the Cretan land. It is made from one of the oldest varieties in the Mediterranean named Chondrolia and it's one of the few olive oils of this variety that have been distinguished worldwide.

    MONOVARIETAL - VARIETY: CHONDROLIA

    Intense and green character, rich and fresh in the mouth with long and persistent aftertaste. Aromas of fresh cut grass, artichoke, peppers and herbs.

    IDEAL PAIRING:

    Greek salad, raw vegetables, fish soup, smoked meats.

  • LASSITHI - CRETE

    Skoutari was the name of "EROTOKRITOS" shield that it was used in the Byzantine era and for him was the shield that he used to finally get close to his love. Today Skoutari is a shield for your health and daily life. An extra virgin olive oil of early harvest, high phenolic, which has been registered in the list of the worlds olive oil center for olives.

    MONOVARIETAL - VARIETY: KORONEIKI

    Excellent sample of Koroneiki variety with green aromas dominating the nose and with a rich taste character. Aromas of fresh cut grass, unripe banana and tomato leaves.

    IDEAL PAIRING:

    Greek salad, Green salads, white cream cheese, fish fillet

  • LASSITHI - CRETE

    It originates from Cretan land with the organic cultivation of the centuries-old family olive grove reaching the area of 60 acres. A unique landscape which is reminding you that Skoutari is an indisputable jewel.

    MONOVARIETAL - VARIETY: CHONDROLIA

    Complex character with persistent spicy sense. Grassie in the nose, rich and fresh in the mouth with long and persistent aftertaste. Aromas of olive leaves, tomato leaves and herbs.

    IDEAL PAIRING:

    Greek Salad, legumes, green salad, fish fillets

  • LASSITHI CRETE

    A unique and ZIRO ORGANIC EARLY HARVEST olive oil is produced in October of each year. The fruit at harvest is intensely green, rich in polyphenols and aromas, with intense organoleptic characteristics.

    MONOVARIETAL - VARIETY: KORONEIKI

    Aromas of flowers – exotic fruits – olive leaves and pear. In the mouth you feel the freshness of the unripe olive, with the pepper and olive leaves giving the bitter and spicy notes that characterize it.

  • RETHYMNO CRETE

    Hello! I’m “Eladaki” extra virgin olive oil is an olive oil of high nutritional value, of organic cultivation that comes from our traditional centuries-old olive groves. A mild bitter taste. It is a highly polyphenolic olive oil, with a fruity aroma that rewards you the moment you open the bottle. By tasting it, you can distinguish its spicy elements,leaving you a mild bitter taste at the end.
